For Immediate Release GREEN COMPANY PLANS TO BRING NEWBURYPORT ITS FIRST WIND TURBINE NEWBURYPORT, MA, NOVEMBER, 2007: Meridian Associates successfully secured a grant of $474, 340 on behalf of Mark Richey Woodworking in Newburyport, MA. A feasibility study has been completed to install the first wind turbine to be proposed in the city. The already-green company, which uses a biomass furnace to burn its waste to generate heat, will next build a wind turbine to generate used electricity for commercial millwork. The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative awarded Richey Woodworking the grant which is approximately one-third of the total cost to fund the 600 KW wind turbine. Meridian prepared the LORI (Large On-Site Renewable Initiatives) application for construction. Return to In The Press Page |
