Background Meridian Associates, Inc. (MAI) is a multi-disciplinary planning, civil engineering, land surveying and landscape architecture firm. We offer land development consulting services to corporate, commercial, industrial, institutional and public clients. These services encompass the complete development process from initial site acquisition studies to final compliance certification. The firm is headquartered in Beverly, Massachusetts with regional offices in Westborough, Massachusetts and New Jersey. Staff Since its founding in 1990 by Richard E. Waitt, Jr., Michael J. Juliano and Donald E. Bowen, Jr., MAI has grown to a current staff of approximately 50. This staff includes professional land surveyors, professional civil engineers and registered landscape architects. Junior staff personnel are mentored by these professionals in an ongoing commitment to develop and expand their experience, confidence and abilities. We recognize that our staff represents our most valuable resource and we pride ourselves on the long-term commitment many have made to the firm. Technology MAI is always exploring technological advances in an ongoing effort to serve our clients' needs more effectively. Computer-based design, analysis and communication tools are provided to every desktop. These tools facilitate the sharing of information within the firm and to our outside consultants and clients. Our survey crews are provided with the latest in digital scanning/imaging systems and innovative GPS surveying equipment. This equipment allows them to meet the speed, versatility and precision demanded by today's fast-paced projects. Approach We recognize that client goals are unique to each project and that each land development site is characteristically different. MAI is committed to delivering the highest level of design and technical expertise. To achieve this, senior members of our technical staff are assigned as project managers. These project managers assemble teams of in-house and qualified sub-consultants to effectively accomplish specific project goals. Our teamwork approach is the critical process that allows MAI to support the quality, schedule and financial goals unique to each client. "Meridian completed the engineering work and coordinated the efforts of the environmental consultant, architect, attorney, and landscape architect on an extraordinary complex project. Meridian shepherded the process of wetlands delineation, drainage calculations, soil studies, and water treatment. They took the project through stringent reviews by the Lexington Conservation Commission and the Department of Environmental Protection." J. Barry Koops, Ph. D.
