3D Laser Scanning and Surveying

To ensure clash free design for a process expansion, Meridian Associates was retained to perform laser scanning and survey to capture exiting conditions inside specialty chemicals processing building.

Survey data was collected using total station survey equipment which allowed registration to plant coordinates through the survey controls monuments. Scanning was performed from 47 setup positions at ground level and on platform locations. Scan data was delivered in ZF format to the modeling team who developed the comprehensive 3D model. The 3D model was integrated with the plant design model; this allowed piping to be routed free of interferences. The TruView scan model provided intricate detail not presented in the CAD model.
