The use of laser scanning helps to simplify complex piping systems. The maze of system networks on the coal fired power equipment scrubbers can be extremely difficult to map or document accurately except through the use of 3D Laser Scanning. Through the accumulation of point cloud models at high resolution, designers can resolve routing problems and interferences for new pipe systems to be installed on existing equipment. The ability to identify structural steel and pipe diameters reduces errors from field investigation. Mapping never before thought possible can now be simply captured in the field and translated into 3D models in multiple CAD environments.
